What is VPA in UPI ?

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), under the Reserve Bank of India's supervision, introduced the incredible innovation known as UPI. India is the market leader for immediate and real-time interbank payments thanks to UPI.

There are currently 224 live banks using UPI as of May 2021. 4,90,638.65 Crore worth of UPI transactions totaled 2,539.57 million throughout that time. Though not the highest, it has generally been growing in the right direction.

UPI is the most popular payment method among individuals, customers, and businesses since it offers more convenience and ease than the other payment methods. Making the transaction simply requires a VPA and a UPI PIN.

What is VPA in UPI ?

One needs to possess a valid ID, also known as a VPA, in order to make payments using UPI.

The term "VPA" refers to the payment address where users can send money using the UPI system.

Due to the fact that the funds are transferred from one VPA to another, online bank-to-bank transactions using UPI are actually made possible. Unified Payments Interface, or UPI, is a simple acronym that has revolutionised internet banking and money transfers. Now that UPI is accepted as a form of payment, users can send and receive money directly to or from a bank account. To complete the transaction, only a UPI ID is required.

Users don't need to add beneficiaries or wait up to 24 hours for the bank to approve, as is the case with more conventional methods of money transfer. It can take time to add account numbers, IFSC codes, and other information when a need is urgent. Rushing can also cause one to stumble. UPI, on the other hand, has developed into a simple method of payment that enables money transfers using a mobile number connected to the bank account of the recipient.

Benefit of Using VPA

Since VPA has facilitated bank account transactions, it offers a number of advantages. Listed below are a few of them:

  • Pay from any account using your cellphone number. The account should have enough funds.

  • A single virtual payment address can be used to perform transactions involving multiple bank accounts.

  • Payments must be made by providing the virtual payment address of the recipient and the payment amount.

  • You can also accept the funds by submitting a request that includes the recipient's details, the required amount, and any further remarks. If the other party accepts, the money is immediately placed into the recipient's account.

  • A virtual payment address can be used to easily track the transaction.

  • You can send money day or night, at any time.

  • Your VPA is adaptable, so adjustments may always be made to it. You have a unique VPA that is unlike any other.

  • As previously stated, the feature raises the security of the transaction.

  • When it comes to the money, NEFT or RTGS transactions in banks are subject to costs, whereas UPI transactions are charged almost no fees at all.

How to create VPA ?

Any UPI application makes it simple to create a Virtual Payment Address (VPA). Start by doing the subsequent actions:

  • Start the UPI app on your PC or mobile device.

  • Your home screen will let you choose "Profile."

  • If you have chosen a VPA, it will be displayed on the screen. If not, add one by selecting the "add" button.

  • Enter your preferred VPA, making it unique and different. Your name and phone number, among other things, are acceptable.

  • Give the necessary information and choose the bank account to which you want to link your VPA.

  • You will be required to create a UPI PIN, a 6-digit security code used to verify transactions, when you link your VPA to your bank account.

  • When you create your UPI PIN, your VPA will be generated and accessible. Just input your VPA and UPI PIN when prompted to finish a transaction.

  • To ensure the security of your transactions, keep your VPA and UPI PIN secure. If you forget your UPI PIN, you can reset it using the UPI app.

Conclusion

Right now, VPA is among the top methods or strategies for carrying out deals. The VPA is the greatest app due to the abundance of functions it provides. We have covered benefits, and a how-to for creating your VPA in this article.
